Snapshot: A career in Photography

Carter Tippins, a photographer from Fisheye Studios in Greenville, SC, spoke with Landrum High School's newspaper and yearbook students about his career as a photographer. Fisheye Studios is an award winning, full service commercial photography agency. Mr. Tippins discussed his career route and gave students photography tips.

Photography is in the arts and a/v technology career cluster. Once you graduate from high school, it is recommended that you take photography classes at the college level. Photographers should also be adept in Adobe Photoshop. Most photographers work as an assistant under the direction of a photographer for a number of years. Landrum students interested in photography should enroll in a journalism class at Landrum, job shadow with a photographer, and  take graphic arts at Swofford Career Center.

Job Shadow Day

On February 1st, more than thirty percent of Landrum High School's student population participated in National Job Shadow Day. Students were given the opportunity to "shadow" a person in a career of his/her interest. This is an annual event, and we are appreciative of the community support. Shadowing is a beneficial experience for students.  (Student pictured shadowed at Art and Light Gallery in Greenville, SC).
