ACT offered at Landrum High School

We are excited to announce that the ACT will be offered to all juniors at Landrum High School on Wednesday, April 23rd.  Spartanburg County Public Schools District 1 received a grant that pays for the entire junior class to take the ACT.

We will be meeting with students soon to pre-register them for the test. In the meantime, we strongly encourage students to study before the test date.

Here is a web site to receive free practice:

In addition, the Landrum Media Center has a plethora of books/cds that students can check out to prepare for the ACT!

The ACT is comprised of English, Reading, Math and Science. The highest score a student can receive on the test is 36. All colleges/universities accept ACT scores.

New Changes to the SAT

As of 2016, there will be changes to the SAT test. Although there will be several changes to the test, one worth mentioning is that there will no longer be a penalty for a wrong answer. Currently on the SAT, 1/4 of a point is deducted for each incorrect answer. On the new test in 2016, students will only receive credit for correct answers.

For a breakdown of all of the new changes, please read this article.

FAFSA - Money for school

FAFSA (the free application for federal student aid) is a required form in order for you to receive financial aid (loans, grants, some scholarships). This form must be completed by a certain deadline. Check with the college/university you are planning to attend on the deadline date. Don't delay!

If you need assistance with the FAFSA, please see your school counselor.
