Spartanburg Community College

Twenty-eight 9th grade students toured Spartanburg Community College today. Students were shown a variety of programs including: nursing; surgical tool technology; mechatronics; computer technology; business; and machine tool technology. Spartanburg Community College is a two-year college offering Associate in Science and Associate in Arts degrees. Students who graduate from high school with a 3.0 GPA can qualify for the LIFE Scholarship. The LIFE scholarship will pay full tuition at any two-year college in the state of South Carolina. Secrets to College Success Summer Camp

Converse College is hosting a course to help students become better prepared for college. The course, Secrets to College Success: Insights to Take Anywhere, is scheduled for July 22-24, 2013, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The course itinerary includes the following: understanding yourself and your strengths, learning more about majors and careers, and establishing a plan for success. Early Bird Registration deadline is May 17, 2013. Summer Camp Opportunity

GoSci Teach is the Governor's School for Science and Mathematics residential summer camp for rising 8th, 9th, and 10th graders. Students are given the opportunity to spend a week on campus (in Harsville, SC), learn about the school, meet teachers and alumni, and participate in classes. The cost ranges from $675 to $750.
