The United States Military Academy at West Point

Cadet Corporal Anthony Sciuva visited Landrum High School today to speak with students about admissions requirements for West Point. According to College Board, the basis for selection at West Point is ACT/SAT scores, high school record, class rank, recommendations by faculty and Congress, and physical ability.

USC Upstate Youth Leadership Institute

Attention all students! USC Upstate is hosting a Youth Leadership Institute this summer. This one week fun-filled camp offers students the opportunity to focus on public policy issues, global conflicts, diversity, and other leadership activities. Engineer's Day at Landrum High School

For a third year in a row, engineers from CH2M Hill visited Landrum High School and presented information about engineering careers to math and science classes. Through these presentations, students are able to acquire more information about a variety of engineering fields and participate in fun-filled learning activities that help them learn more about engineering and its relation to math and science. We thank CH2M Hill for their support of Landrum High School.

IGP's in Progress

The IGP (individual graduation plan) is a plan that is established by the student, parent and Guidance Counselor. At the meeting, the student's educational plans, career goals and other pertinent information are discussed. Students in tenth grade declare a major. Registration cards are reviewed and students choose courses that they plan to take while in high school. Every student at Landrum High School has an IGP meeting. All parents are encouraged to attend. Mrs. Cardell and Ms. McCrimmon are currently in the process of holding IGP meetings. You will receive a letter with your child's date/time for their IGP meeting soon.

Milliken visits Landrum

More than nineteen employees from Milliken & Company, visited Landrum High School to speak to students about their careers at Milliken. Students learned more about Milliken & Company and a variety of career fields including engineering, international business, invention, and management. We thank Milliken personnel for their valuable time and information.

Careers in the Banking Industry

Ms. Jennifer Wilke from Wachovia Bank of Landrum, spoke to forty students about careers in the banking industry. She stressed the importance of taking rigorous math classes in high school as this is good preparation for a major in business in college. Ms. Wilke also discussed the importance of saving, having good credit and discussed how to open a checking and savings account.

USC Upstate College of Business & Economics

If you're interested in majoring in business, then you should check out USC Upstate's major in business administration. The George Dean Johnson, Jr., USC Upstate's College of Business & Economics, also known as "The George," is located in downtown Spartanburg. This location allows students to have access to businesses in the Spartanburg community. It is the only business program between Charlotte and Clemson to have earned accreditation from the AACSB International - the Association to Advance Collegiate School of Business. Only one third of U.S. business programs have completed the process for this accreditation. The College of Business & Economics offers a degree in Business Administration. Students can concentrate in economics and finance, accounting, general business, management and marketing. There are a variety of scholarships available for business majors.
