Tips for Rising Seniors

Tips for Rising Seniors who are planning to attend post-secondary school upon graduation from high school:

This summer:
1. Schedule campus visits to colleges and universities that you're planning to apply to.
2. Study for the ACT/SAT.
3. Create a list of 4-8 colleges. Keep a calendar with deadlines, application fees, test dates.

Changes to the PSAT and SAT

ACT and Work Keys Tests

On April 28th all juniors will take the ACT at Landrum High School. Juniors will complete their registration paper work in FOCUS Group classes. Students will not be charged to take this particular test. The ACT test is comprised of four subject areas including: English, Reading, Math and Science. It can be used for admission to 2 year and 4 year colleges/institutions. For more information regarding the ACT click here.

On April 29th all juniors will take the ACT Work Keys test. The ACT Work Keys test is an employment skills test which measures foundational and soft skills. Successful completion can lead to a National Career Readiness certificate. For more information, click here. 

Wofford College FREE Chinese Summer Camp

Wofford College is offering a FREE Chinese summer camp to students in grades 6th - 12th grade. The camp is scheduled to run June 8-19, 2015. Only 45 students will be accepted. Students must have a B+ average and need to apply at www.wofford.edu/startalk Students who attend learn about Chinese culture and participate in activities related to Chinese culture.

Swofford Career Center Career Fair

Swofford Career Center is hosting a career fair on Tuesday, February 24th at 6:00 p.m. Students will have the opportunity to explore the campus and classes, learn more about courses offered at Swofford Career Center, and speak with faculty. This event is open to all grade levels. We encourage parents and students to attend.
